Job Opportunity: Credit Management Expertise

We seek a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mortgage underwriting, specifically within the Australian market. This role requires an individual who can assess home loan applications and make informed credit decisions, adhering to strict guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with Australian credit policies and lending standards.
  • Verify income sources, perform credit checks, review property valuations, and conduct responsible lending assessments.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including brokers, lenders, and internal teams, to clarify documentation or resolve discrepancies.
  • Deliver high-quality credit decisions within established service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, such as the National Consumer Credit Protection Act (NCCP) and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process improvements.
  • Prepare regular reports on pipeline status, SLA performance, and quality metrics.
Requirements:
  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in a finance-related field, such as commerce or economics.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, preferably with at least 2-3 years focused on Australian home loans.
  • Strong understanding of Australian credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems.
  • Experience working with multiple lenders is beneficial.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
  • Experience with various income types, including PAYG, self-employed, rental, and foreign income.
  • Familiarity with credit bureaus, such as Equifax Australia.
  • Awareness of verification tools and fraud checks used in the Australian mortgage sector.
