Job Title: Business Development Manager - Modern Trade

 

About The Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead our Modern Trade Sales operations in India. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in retail management, with a focus on optimizing sales, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring efficient operations across all regions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy and Execution:
    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue and market share objectives.
    • Collaborate with the Retail Head to set sales targets and KPIs for the Trade segment.
    • Drive the execution of sales plans, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Retail Operations Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned Modern Trade Customers, including inventory management, product placement, and visual merchandising.
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
    • Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely product availability.
    • Ensure Modern Trade sales team are aware of sales and marketing activities to implement them in a cost-effective manner.
    • Collect feedback on how the activities are running and provide continuous brand and product training to store associates.
  • Key Account Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts in the assigned channels.
    • Collaborate with key accounts to develop joint business plans, promotional activities, and merchandising strategies.
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination with key accounts to meet sales objectives.
  • Credit Allocations:
    • Implement and manage credit allocation policies for customers.
    • Evaluate creditworthiness of customers, establish credit limits, and monitor credit terms.
    • Work closely with finance and credit control teams to minimize credit risks and optimize cash flow.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and inspire a team of retail professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance team productivity and morale.
  • Customer Experience Enhancement:
    • Implement initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience.
    • Gather and analyze customer feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:
    • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
    • Utilize market intelligence to make informed decisions and adjust strategies accordingly.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in retail operations management, preferably in the personal care or FMCG sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Modern Trade landscape in the Indian market.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales performance data.

 

Estimated Salary Range: ₹8,00,000 - ₹12,00,000 per annum.
