PostgreSQL Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support group, you will be responsible for providing expert-level technical assistance to clients experiencing issues with their PostgreSQL databases.

Your primary focus will be on resolving complex performance problems, designing and implementing optimized database solutions, and mentoring junior engineers in best practices.

  • Resolve the most challenging performance issues, acting as the final escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Design and automate deployment strategies using Kubernetes and PostgreSQL Operators.
  • Tune and optimize database performance through query plan analysis and connection pooling.
  • Ensure high availability by building resilient clusters using Patroni, repmgr, and streaming replication.
  • Implement monitoring and observability pipelines in Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Secure and compliant solutions that meet GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 requirements.
  • Mentor and educate junior engineers on best practices, schema design, indexing strategies, and PL/pgSQL development patterns.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • 5+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Deep expertise in Linux and shell scripting.
  • Proven track record with Kubernetes and PostgreSQL Operators.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and spoken English, and customer-facing abilities.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Experience with cloud-native services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and IaC tools.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL integrations and backup/restore strategies.
