Experience the world of enterprise-level software development as a senior Mainframe COBOL Developer.

Our ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with COBOL programming, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, IMS, and Agile methodologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-performance batch and online processing applications using COBOL. They will create and maintain JCL scripts to manage batch jobs, ensure optimal performance, and troubleshoot issues that impact data processing.

The developer will also design and develop DB2 queries, integrate COBOL programs with databases, and ensure database integrity. Additionally, they will work with VSAM files to store and retrieve data efficiently and perform file management tasks such as creating, deleting, and maintaining datasets.

A strong background in banking domain knowledge is essential, with at least 4 years of experience in software development for financial institutions. The candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • COBOL Programming
    • Develop and maintain COBOL applications to meet business requirements
    • Create, test, and debug COBOL code for batch and online processing
    • Modify and update existing COBOL applications to improve efficiency or add new features
  • JCL (Job Control Language)
    • Create and maintain JCL scripts to manage batch jobs
    • Ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot issues that impact data processing
  • DB2 (Database)
    • Design and develop DB2 queries to interact with databases
    • Integrate COBOL programs with DB2 for data retrieval, insertion, and updating
    • Ensure database integrity and handle SQL optimization
  • VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method)
    • Work with VSAM files to store and retrieve data efficiently
    • Perform file management tasks such as creating, deleting, and maintaining VSAM datasets
  • Agile Methodology
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features incrementally
  • Banking Domain Knowledge
    • Develop software that aligns with banking regulations, business processes, and security standards
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in financial transactions, account management, and payment systems
