Job Title: Claims and Legal Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Claims and Legal Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all legal issues regarding claims matters, including monitoring and handling court cases, appeals, writ petitions, and actions initiated by authorities such as Customs, DRI, SIIB, CBEC etc.

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years' experience in the shipping industry, preferably with Cargo / Marine claims experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as good analytical skills, reporting skills, and trouble-shooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is also required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering all relevant documents and reporting to Head Office on claims within 24 hours.
  • Monitoring and assisting Head Office claims and other colleagues in handling claims and court cases until closure.
  • Handling third-party damages to CMA CGM containers and cargo, including stevedore damages.
  • Drafting and vetting Service Agreements and drafting various MOU, Letters of Intent, agreements etc.
  • Providing guidance to branch offices on handling issues that may translate to a legal matter.
