Job Description

The Procurement Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of raw materials, mining equipment, and consumables required for smooth operations of mining and processing units. This key position involves developing procurement strategies tailored to the minerals and mining industry, sourcing and negotiating contracts with local and international suppliers, and maintaining vendor relationships to ensure timely supply.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing procurement strategies that optimize costs, improve quality, and enhance reliability.
  • Source, negotiate, and finalize contracts for equipment, spare parts, explosives, fuel, and other mining-related consumables.
  • Maintaining strong vendor relationships with local and international suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitoring market trends, commodity prices, and logistics costs to achieve cost savings.
  • Ensuring inventory planning is coordinated with operations and warehouse teams.
  • Evaluating supplier performance based on quality, reliability, pricing, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensuring all purchases comply with statutory requirements, safety norms, and environmental regulations.
  • Managing contracts with logistics providers for mineral transportation.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation in procurement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Mining Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 7-10 years of procurement experience, with at least 4-5 years in the minerals/mining sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mining equipment, spare parts, raw materials, and international trade regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and contract drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory management, and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety, statutory compliance, and sustainability practices in mining.
