Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reconcile inventory across sales channels: retail stores, marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer website.
  • Oversee stock movement accounting (inward, outward, returns, damages, inter-store transfers) to ensure accuracy.
  • Evaluate landed costs, including GST, freight, and other overheads for accurate inventory valuation.
  • Identify and address inventory discrepancies in collaboration with Operations & Merchandising teams.

Accounts & Financial Management

  • Manage vendor payments, reconciliations, and settle dues on time.
  • Reconcile sales data with payment gateways, POS systems, marketplace reports, and internal enterprise resource planning software.
  • Prepare profit-and-loss statements, margin analysis, and profitability reports by sales channel.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements for inventory management and vendor transactions.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with the Buying team for procurement accounting and vendor reconciliations.
  • Partner with Operations to streamline inventory inward/outward processes and minimize stock movements.
  • Work with Retail and Merchandising teams to ensure accurate reporting of sales, returns, and stock levels.
  • Coordinate with auditors for periodic stock audits and statutory audits.

Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare and publish regular management information system reports on inventory positions, slow-moving stock, and shrinkage.
  • Support senior management with insights for decision-making on buying, replenishment, and stock allocation.
  • Implement financial and operational controls around inventory movement and sales reconciliation to improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce is essential.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts (preferably semi-qualified Chartered Accountant), with strong exposure to inventory control/reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of taxation and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
