About the Role:

  • The Director of Supply Chain Management will oversee our logistics operations, focusing on chemical cargo movement via bulk and containerized modes.
  • This strategic role requires significant experience in vessel chartering, import compliance, and the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals through sea freight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Strategy & Operations:
    • Oversight of end-to-end logistics for import of chemicals via bulk tankers, dry bulk, and containerized cargo (FCL/LCL).
    • Development and implementation of logistics strategies to optimize cost, delivery timelines, and safety compliance.
    • Collaboration with procurement, planning, and manufacturing teams for delivery planning and coordination.
  • Vessel Chartering & Freight Management:
    • Management of spot and long-term chartering of chemical tankers, dry bulk vessels, and container space.
    • Negotiation of freight contracts, charter party agreements, demurrage clauses, and port handling terms.
    • Maintenance of strong relationships with ship owners, chartering brokers, NVOCCs, and freight forwarders.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensuring compliance with IMDG, REACH, MARPOL, DG regulations, and other international maritime laws.
    • Overseeing customs clearance, import documentation, and regulatory approvals (MSDS, COO, B/L, etc.).
    • Management of classification, packaging, and labeling of hazardous chemicals as per global standards.
  • Port, Terminal & Transport Management:
    • Coordination with port authorities, terminals, and bonded warehouses for efficient cargo handling.
    • Supervision of movement from port to plant via road tankers, ISO tanks, IBCs, or drums as per cargo type.
    • Management of last-mile logistics, ensuring safe unloading and quality checks.
  • Cost Optimization & Performance Analysis:
    • Monitoring of freight trends, benchmarking costs, and initiation of cost-saving strategies across shipping modes.
    • Analysis and reporting of KPIs (OTIF, demurrage costs, transit times, etc.) and driving continuous improvement.
    • Handling of exceptions, delays, and risk mitigation related to cargo damage, spills, or port disruptions.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Leadership and development of a high-performing logistics team.
    • BUILDING STRONG LOGISTICS NETWORKS WITH TRANSPORTERS AND WAREHOUSE PARTNERS.
