Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to support teaching, research, and practical training in various departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, assisting faculty and students during practical sessions, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for practical classes and research activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to faculty and students during laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and projects.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, biological samples, reagents, and other materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and software applications as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, experiments, and laboratory usage.
  • Implement laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Support departmental research projects and student dissertations.
  • Procure laboratory supplies and liaise with vendors/service providers.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Life Sciences, Forensic Science, Agriculture, or Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
  • Prior experience in laboratory work, technical assistance, or research support is desirable.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, equipment handling, and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
