Lead Designer - Train Interior Components

About the Opportunity

As a lead designer, you will be responsible for developing high-quality interior components for trains using SolidWorks. Your role will involve translating customer concepts and specifications into production-ready 3D and 2D designs.

  • Design thermoformed panels for train interiors using SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their design requirements and preferences.
  • Develop panel designs that meet changing project requirements while minimizing tool modifications.
  • Engineer rear side constructions of panels, including reinforcements, ventilation solutions, and mounting details.
  • Work closely with European clients to ensure technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components.
  • Expert-level skills in SolidWorks, including surface modeling, assemblies, and tool-related adjustments.
  • Strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.
  • Ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and engineering discussions.
  • Independent, structured, and detail-oriented working style.
