The Opportunity

We are expanding our engineering capabilities and seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer with extensive SolidWorks expertise to develop thermoformed interior components for the railway industry.

This is a senior-level role that requires not just CAD skills but deep engineering understanding, strong customer communication, and the ability to deliver manufacturable, cost-optimized solutions while minimizing changes to tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop interior thermoformed panels for trains using SolidWorks.
  • Translate customer rough concepts and specifications into production-ready 3D and 2D designs.
  • Adapt panel designs to changing project requirements (e.g., different train widths) while ensuring minimal tool modifications.
  • Engineer the rear side construction of panels, including reinforcements, ventilation solutions, and mounting details.
  • Work in direct exchange with clients to align technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components.
  • SolidWorks expert level surface modeling, assemblies, tool-related adjustments.
  • Strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.
  • Ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs.
  • Strong communication skills for customer interaction and engineering discussions.
  • Independent, structured, and detail-oriented working style.
  • German language skills are a strong plus.
