Academic Leader - Industrial Design

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Leader to join our Product Design department.

  • Develop and implement academic programs that align with the university's mission and vision, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Supervise and support faculty members in teaching practices, research projects, and professional development, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of program curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and stays relevant, making adjustments as needed to maintain its competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students, promoting cross-functional skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee student recruitment efforts, working closely with the Career Advancement Service team to attract top talent and provide them with a supportive and challenging environment.
  • Plan departmental resources effectively for discussion and approvals, ensuring optimal use of budget and personnel.
  • Bring industry experts for various academes engagements like teaching, master classes, conferences/symposiums, and design festivals, providing students with valuable insights and networking opportunities.
  • Stay well-versed with UGC, NAAC, and other processes and documentations, ensuring compliance and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
  • Total 15+ years of experience with minimum of 5 years experience in an academic leadership role within a design school setting.
  • Strong understanding of current trends and developments in the field of Industrial Design.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to engage with faculty, staff, students, industry professionals, and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Product Design department, driving academic excellence and innovation while promoting a positive and inclusive work environment. They will work closely with faculty members, staff, and industry partners to develop and implement academic programs, foster collaboration, and promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
