Job Overview

Caterpillar Inc. is a global leader in the manufacturing industry, and we are seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled professional to support the development and execution of our domain data strategy. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for internal controls and assessments, data governance, use case management and consolidation, and metrics/KPIs needed to maintain the data from the manufacturing domain.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development, testing, and delivery of services/products;
  • Analyzing existing offerings, preparing technical documentation, and recommending upgrades;
  • Conducting market research to do a comparative analysis of competitor offerings and provide recommendations for developing a more effective product/service;
  • Supporting the organization by fulfilling data requests, preparing reports, and providing technical assistance;
  • Participating in initiatives to improve processes efficiency and employee productivity;

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Business Data Analysis: Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements;
  • Business Assessment: Knowledge of the activities, tasks, practices and deliverables for assessing and documenting business opportunities; ability to assess the benefits, risks, and success factors of potential applications;
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project;
  • Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications;
  • Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production;
  • Research Analysis: Knowledge of the concepts, methodologies and methods of research analysis; ability to locate, interpret and evaluate research findings compiled and documented by others;
