Senior DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer to spearhead our SRE strategy, drive operational efficiency, and promote an "Automate-first" culture.

  • SRE Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, drive, and implement the SRE strategy to reduce toil, delay, and redundancy in processes.
  • Culture Promotion: Promote an "Automate-first" culture in operating services through the reduction of toil.
  • Methodology Development: Develop methodologies for identifying toil-heavy and inefficient processes and automating/eliminating them.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience in a similar role, with expertise in defining and implementing Service Level Objectives, operating Error Budgets, and monitoring/observability technologies.

Responsibilities

  • SRE Strategy: Help define, drive, and implement the SRE strategy to reduce toil, delay, and redundancy in processes.
  • Culture Promotion: Promote an "Automate-first" culture in operating services through the reduction of toil.
  • Methodology Development: Develop methodologies for identifying toil-heavy and inefficient processes and automating/eliminating them.
  • Metric Development: Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery.
  • SLA Definition: Work with all parties to develop and implement SLOs for critical services.
  • Monitoring Strategy: Define a monitoring strategy with Engineering and implement appropriate capabilities.
  • Reliability Improvements: Design and implement reliability improvements, conduct capacity planning, perform chaos engineering exercises, and lead architectural reviews for reliability.
  • Incident-driven Improvement: Drive continuous improvement from incidents.
  • Test and Deployment: Contribute to the Test and Deployment processes to ensure they are reliable and automated.

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Hands-on SRE Practitioner with 5+ years working experience in SRE role, with practical experience defining and implementing Service Level Objectives, operating to Error Budgets, and implementing/operating monitoring and observability technologies.
  • Skills: Comprehensive understanding of SRE principles, working knowledge of modern observability tooling (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana), experience of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and design, and extensive knowledge of Configuration Management Solutions (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Cloud Experience: 2+ years of experience with one/more public/private cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
