Procurement Specialist for Raw Materials

The Procurement Specialist for Raw Materials plays a crucial role in overseeing the acquisition of essential raw materials required for production processes.

This position involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining quality and timely delivery of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management:
    • Review purchase requisitions and float RFQs as per plan received from the planning team.
    • Prepare comparative quote sheets, negotiate best prices, and issue POs to L1 as per approval of AVP & VP Procurement.
    • Ensure timely delivery of material (OTIF), diligence in follow-ups with suppliers, and ensure timely payments.
  • Strategic Procurement:
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Monitor market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities in the raw materials market.
  • Supplier Partnerships:
    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Cost Optimization:
    • Manage the procurement budget and ensure compliance with financial targets.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives and continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all raw materials procured meet the required quality standards and specifications.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Work closely with the Inventory Management team to ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage and reduce excess stock.
  • Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
    • Identify potential risks in the procurement process and develop mitigation strategies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on raw materials.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and build strong partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools. SAP knowledge is a must.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the pesticide industry.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to raw materials procurement.
