Cloud Database Specialist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Database Specialist to manage, monitor, and optimize databases hosted on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. As a fresher, you will learn the ins and outs of database administration and contribute to our team's success.

  • The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts, as well as familiarity with at least one cloud platform and their database offerings.
  • They will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, and maintaining cloud-hosted databases, monitoring performance and availability using cloud-native tools, evaluating data security and backup processes, and supporting database migration to the cloud.
  • The successful candidate will also have strong problem-solving skills, good communication and teamwork abilities, and a willingness to continuously learn and improve their skills.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, and cloud certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Administration: Provision, configure, and maintain cloud-hosted databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Cloud SQL)
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance and availability using cloud-native tools
  • Data Security: Evaluate data security, backup, and recovery processes
  • Migration Support: Support migration of databases to the cloud from on-premises systems
  • Access Management: Create users, roles, and permission policies for database access
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot basic database issues with guidance from senior DBAs
  • Documentation: Document procedures, configurations, and operational best practices
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with DevOps and development teams for database-related needs

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Certifications: Cloud certifications (AWS Cloud Practitioner / Azure Fundamentals / Google Cloud Digital Leader) would be an added advantage
  • Skills: Basic understanding of SQL and relational database concepts, familiarity with at least one cloud platform and their database offerings, knowledge of database backup, restore, and disaster recovery fundamentals, awareness of database security best practices, good problem-solving skills, strong communication and teamwork abilities
