Job Description

The primary objective of the Senior Database Administrator is to provide a secure and highly performant database tier that ensures seamless accessibility for end-users. This role involves designing, developing, installing, tuning, deploying, securing, migrating, and upgrading database management systems installations.

The ideal candidate should possess sound technical skills and administrative aptitude to effectively communicate and troubleshoot problems. They should have a solid understanding of database concepts, including ACID properties, normal forms, DDL/DML, transaction logging, log shipping, mirroring, and high-availability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing databases using relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.
  • Ensuring the security, performance, and capacity constraints of databases across Cloud and On-Prem platforms.
  • Migrating databases with minimal or no downtime, while providing guidance and support to developers on design, code review, and SQL query performance tuning.
  • Implementing HA/DR setup, replication, database encryption, index, and filegroup management.
  • Regularly liaising with managers, developers, operations, system, and database administrators.
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the field.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of database programming languages (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of database backup-recovery, security, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Experience in developing migration plans to migrate on-premises databases to Cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and problem-solving attitude.
  • Adaptability to new processes or technology changes within the organization.
