Job Overview

The Senior Oracle Exadata DBA will play a pivotal role in implementing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing critical Oracle RDBMS systems, including Exadata and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), to ensure high availability and consistent performance for clients.

This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical skills, cloud migration experience, and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Continuous engagement with the assigned client base to understand their needs and deliver high-quality services.
  • New Customer Onboarding: Developing and implementing new customer transition, administration, and maintenance plans to ensure seamless integration.
  • Communication: Ensuring continuous communication with clients in a consultative approach to address their concerns and provide solutions.
  • Exadata Administration: Administering and optimizing Oracle Exadata systems, including compute nodes, storage cells, and InfiniBand.
  • Databases on OCI: Managing Oracle databases on OCI, including provisioning, patching, backup, and recovery.
  • Cloud Migration: Leading and supporting end-to-end cloud migration initiatives from on-premises to OCI, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions using RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitoring and tuning performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and SQL tuning tools to optimize database performance.
  • Automation: Automating database operations using scripting languages like Shell, Python, and Ansible.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with cloud architects and application teams to support hybrid and cloud-native deployments.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensuring database security, compliance, and audit readiness across Exadata and OCI environments.
  • Capacity Planning and Architecture Reviews: Participating in capacity planning, cloud migration strategies, and architecture reviews to ensure scalability and efficiency.
  • On-Call Support: Providing on-call support and participating in scheduled maintenance windows to ensure continuous service delivery.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of production database support experience.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience supporting large-scale database environments, proven experience with Oracle Exadata systems, and experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, and Grid Infrastructure.
  • Certifications: Public Cloud experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) required; OCI certifications preferred.
  • Cloud Migration Experience: Proven experience in cloud migration of Oracle databases to OCI, including provisioning, backup, restore, and performance optimization of cloud databases.
  • Strong Background: Strong background in disaster recovery planning and execution, and experience working in UNIX, Linux, and Windows environments.
  • Cloud Databases: Experience working with AWS cloud databases is a plus; AWS certifications desired.
