Cloud Platform Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Engineer with strong expertise in cloud-native infrastructure automation, Kubernetes management, and APIGEE runtime deployment.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage cloud-native infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Compute Engine, GKE, and Cloud Storage.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Helm charts and Kubernetes clusters (GKE, AKS, or on-prem).
  • Perform installation, upgrades, patching, and maintenance of APIGEE Hybrid and APIGEE X environments within Kubernetes.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment using Terraform and Ansible for enhanced efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash/Shell and Python to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks.
  • Collaborate with API teams to support API proxy deployments, troubleshoot runtime issues, and optimize platform performance.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for APIGEE platform deployments and API lifecycle management.
  • Monitor platform health, capacity planning, and perform troubleshooting for runtime and infrastructure issues.
  • Work closely with network, security, and cloud teams to configure secure and compliant environments.
  • Support multi-cloud and hybrid cloud deployment strategies, ensuring seamless integration and governance.
  • Document platform architecture, operational procedures, and automation workflows.

Requirements:

  • APIGEE Expertise:
  • Strong experience with APIGEE Hybrid platform deployment and runtime management.
  • Familiarity with APIGEE X and API management concepts (OAuth, JWT, API keys, SSL/TLS).
  • Experience with API proxy development, debugging, and policy implementation.
  • Kubernetes & Containerization:
  • Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters (GKE, AKS, or on-prem).
  • Proficient in deploying and managing containerized applications using Helm charts.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, and service mesh is a plus.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  • Extensive experience with Terraform for provisioning cloud and Kubernetes resources.
  • Experience using the Terraform Helm provider to deploy applications on Kubernetes.
  • Scripting & Automation:
  • Strong skills in Bash/Shell scripting and Python for automation and operational tasks.
  • Experience developing automation pipelines for deployment and monitoring.
  • Cloud Platform Experience:
  • Solid understanding of Google Cloud Platform services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM).
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments is a plus.
  • DevOps & CI/CD:
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).
  • Experience integrating APIGEE deployments into automated pipelines.
  • Networking & Security:
  • Understanding of network security, firewall rules, VPNs, and cloud security best practices.
  • Knowledge of API security standards and compliance requirements.
