Cloud Optimization Expert

We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team at Abacus. This role will be responsible for optimizing cloud infrastructure costs, monitoring and analyzing spending patterns, and implementing efficiency improvements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the expert in monitoring and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Closely track daily/weekly usage, spending patterns, and billing reports, highlighting anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain scripts/automation (Python, Bash, or similar) for cost reporting, resource clean-up, and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to right-size compute, storage, and database resources.
  • Identify and implement reserved instances, savings plans, auto-scaling policies, and storage lifecycle policies to reduce spend.
  • Leverage native tools like AWS Cost Explorer, CloudWatch, GCP Billing, as well as third-party monitoring platforms.
  • Contribute to SRE/DevOps practices by monitoring infrastructure reliability while balancing costs.

Key Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP services (EC2, S3, IAM, GKE, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Experience in cloud cost monitoring & optimization.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Bash, Shell, etc.).
  • Understanding of SRE concepts: reliability, scalability, monitoring, and automation.
  • Prior experience in cost analysis and optimization for enterprise workloads.
