Job Opportunity

The Legal Officer position at our institution plays a pivotal role in providing expert legal counsel, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and advising on policy development to safeguard the university's interests.

This role involves maintaining legal integrity within the institution by handling legal disputes, coordinating with external legal advisors, and contributing to the formulation of internal policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and excellent communication skills.

About the Role

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to senior management and ensure the university adheres to all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and vet legal documents, including Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and standard agreements with external parties.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, preparing responses to grievances and attending court when necessary.
  • Monitor and manage internal legal processes, update existing internal policies, and help formulate and implement new ones.
  • Serve as a member secretary for committees and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council of India registration.

Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of six years of experience is required as an advocate or working in the legal department of an organization preferably in the education sector demonstrating hands-on application of legal knowledge.
  • Possesses strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of Telugu is a must.
