Database administrators play a crucial role in maintaining the performance and reliability of large databases. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead our database infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with application systems and implementing best practices for data security and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our database infrastructure
  • Collaborate closely with application teams to integrate database solutions
  • Analyze and implement best practices for supported datastores (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Develop and enforce database security, backup, and recovery protocols
  • Work on observability of relevant database metrics and achieve database objectives
  • Provide expert guidance to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations
  • Collaborate with peers (DevOps, Application Engineers) to roll out changes to the production environment and mitigate database-related incidents
  • Automate database infrastructure and provide self-service tools to support engineering success
  • Participate in on-call support rotations with the team
  • Support and debug database production issues across services and levels of the stack
  • Document actions to create repeatable processes and automation opportunities
  • Perform regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure scalability
Requirements:
  • At least 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments
  • Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL internals
  • Knowledge of load balancing solutions (ProxySQL) for efficient database traffic distribution
  • Understanding of tools and methods for monitoring database performance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional team success
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Knowledge of caching mechanisms (Redis/Elasticache)
  • Scripting language expertise (Python)
  • Infrastructure automation knowledge (Terraform/Ansible)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
