Search Engineer Position

The position of Search Engineer is a challenging role that requires strong technical skills and expertise in search technologies. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team and help us architect and develop advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing search solutions tailored to complex business requirements.
  • Index and template management: creating and maintaining index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies for data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Developing custom query builders and search pipelines to enhance search relevance.
  • Collaborating with data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences.
  • Implementing AI/ML/LLM-powered search enhancements for data enrichment and improved search relevance.
  • API development using Python (FastAPI) for robust and scalable search functionality.
  • Testing and quality assurance through integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • Automating deployment and management of search infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.
  • Expert-level expertise in Python, including API development using FastAPI.
  • In-depth understanding of search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, and custom scoring.
  • Practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows.
  • Strong testing background and DevOps skills, including automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with S3, AWS Lambda, and cloud-native architectures.
