Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Climate Adaptation Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating climate adaptation priorities into national climate frameworks, ensuring alignment with international agreements and national development goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of climate vulnerability and risk across various sectors, including agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems, to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses
  • Apply advanced climate models and risk analytics to identify and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimates
  • Evaluate the techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and identify relevant financing sources to support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation
  • Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations, engaging government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups to align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans
  • Contribute to the design of Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems in line with Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirements and draft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences
  • Provide expert recommendations that strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integration by collaborating with public and private sector stakeholders to support implementation and resource mobilization

Key Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in climate science, environmental studies, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields with demonstrated involvement in developing or updating NDCs, LT-LEDS, or NAPs, particularly in developing country contexts
  • Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies, experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections, and strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways
  • Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms such as GCF, GEF, and bilateral donor programs, effective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills

About This Role:

  • Prior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy development and background in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles
  • Knowledge of ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and coastal resilience approaches and ability to integrate gender and social inclusion into adaptation planning
