Job Opportunity for Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems, including low voltage reticulation and distribution systems, general lighting systems, and emergency lighting systems.

  • Design of low voltage reticulation and distribution systems (230/400Volt) including UPS sources;
  • Operation of AMTECH / Electrical OM software to produce design for low voltage systems including selection of cable types, protective devices and self-checking and presentation of results;
  • Design of general lighting systems;
  • Design of emergency lighting systems;

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution. They should also have experience working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.

  • Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.
  • Experience of contributing to the electrical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for supervising and verifying the work performed by designers/modellers, interpreting client specification requirements, and operating industry-standard CAD systems.

  • Supervise and verify the work performed by designers/modeller to meet the requirements of the project.
  • Interpretation of client specification requirements written in English in the development of designs;
  • Operation of industry standard CAD system.
Mandatory Skills and Qualifications

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution;
  • Experience of working within a rail station environment;
  • Good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.
