We are seeking a skilled Loan Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for reviewing mortgage files and determining loan approval.

In this role, you will analyze financial data, identify potential risks, and make informed decisions about loan approval. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of loan documents.

You will work closely with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient lending process. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.

  • Review mortgage files to determine loan approval
  • Analyze financial data to identify potential risks
  • Make informed decisions about loan approval
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of loan documents
  • Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong understanding of lending regulations, laws, and industry standards. You must also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2+ years current conventional mortgage loan underwriting experience
  • Strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, reading credit reports, identifying red flags
  • Basic knowledge of appraisal and ability to recognize red flags and ineligible properties
  • Thorough working knowledge of GSE underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP)
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong ability to time manage
