Job Title

Cassandra DBA Specialist

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team.

  • Manage both production SQL-based and Cassandra/NoSQL databases collaboratively with other team members.
  • Configure, administer, monitor, secure, optimize performance, replicate, troubleshoot, and backup both traditional SQL databases (MySQL/Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB).
  • Install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters efficiently.
  • Manage an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering Proofpoint services effectively.
  • Evaluate and ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and reporting in the production environment.
  • Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams to determine resource impacts for upcoming product deployments and ensure successful rollouts.
  • Develop processes, tools, and documentation in support of production operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona)
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures is strongly preferred
  • Strong scripting skills in common languages
  • Excellent communication skills to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms
  • Experience with industry-standard operational practices such as change management, incident management
  • Experience using Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or analogous configuration management systems
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline required
