
Senior Mortgage Business Manager

The primary responsibility of this role is to effectively manage and oversee the mortgage business within assigned branches or locations. This involves conducting thorough assessments of loan applications, making informed decisions, and recommending proposals for approval to higher authorities as needed.
Some key tasks associated with this position include:
- Reviewing and assessing a broad range of complex loan applications, taking into account defined guidelines and making recommendations or decisions accordingly.
- Underwriting proposals in line with established policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and managing city/area business volumes.
- Conducting personal discussions with customers to establish credit worthiness, ensure completion of credit/KYC documents, and verifying information through telephonic, field, and collateral visits.
- Assessing income to obligation ratios, loan to value ratios, and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the rational behind these calculations and their impact on loan performance over long tenures.
- Maintaining Portfolio Management Information System (MIS), Delinquency MIS, and other operations-related MIS for the cluster, regularly reporting on these matters.
- Building and facilitating effective relationships with third parties to drive the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Taking ownership of client queries and utilizing industry knowledge and experience to overcome challenges and resolve issues.
- Exceeding service quality standards and striving for continuous process improvement.
- Conducting critical reviews of credit proposals to identify industry, business, financial, management, and facility structure risks.
- Ensuring collateral and other credit risk mitigation to facilitate decision-making by approving authorities.
- Enabling quick turnaround times for credit lending proposals related to loans against property and home loan business, working closely with sales teams.
- Undertaking ongoing reviews of credit exposures to ensure they remain bankable.
- Facilitating critical reviews and documentation of proposals, effectively monitoring client and collateral creditworthiness from pre-sanction to post-disbursement phases, and taking steps for risk mitigation when necessary while adhering to legal and documentation norms and policies.
- Managing the credit underwriting function within the branch and facilitating quick turnarounds for credit lending proposals in close liaison with local credit analysts and sales teams.
Qualifications: A graduate degree is mandatory, while a Master's or Postgraduate degree is preferred. Additionally, certifications such as CA or MBA are advantageous but not required.
