Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Middle-Level Manager to oversee and manage Backup Operations.

About the Role
  • This is a senior management position responsible for leading and mentoring a team of backup administrators and support staff.
  • You will be managing day-to-day operations of backup and recovery environments across on-premise and cloud platforms.
  • The role requires you to develop, enforce, and maintain backup policies, schedules, and procedures aligned with business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) strategies.
  • You will also monitor backup jobs, investigate failures, and resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize risk and data loss.
  • Collaboration with application, database, and infrastructure teams is necessary to meet and maintain data protection and retention requirements.
  • You must maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of backup configurations, processes, and recovery procedures, aligned with GSOP standards.
  • This role involves providing evidence and support for internal and external audits across regions, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal data retention policies and audit requirements is crucial.
  • You will evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies and tools to optimize backup performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Regular reporting on backup status, capacity usage, risk assessments, and improvement opportunities to senior management is required.
  • Leadership and participation in disaster recovery drills are necessary to ensure operational readiness for real-world incidents.
  • You will drive the creation, upkeep, and periodic review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • This role involves acting as a primary liaison for audit activities related to backup operations, coordinating with internal and external auditors.
  • Governance and oversight of backup vendor teams responsible for BAU (Business As Usual) support, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.
  • You will plan and execute migration of global storage and backup resources, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Implementing and monitoring security measures to safeguard data from unauthorized access, physical threats, ransomware, and malware attacks is essential.
  • Oversight of Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes related to backup operations, including CR (Change Requests) evaluation.
  • You will manage vendor relationships, including service contracts, equipment maintenance, and support delivery.
  • Maintaining backup utilization, analyzing trends, forecasting future capacity, and planning accordingly.
  • Governance of regular backup testing initiatives and implementing enhancements to reduce cost, time, and improve reliability.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT and/or Data Center management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of backup and recovery systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
