Production Chemist Job Description

Job Summary:

This Production Chemist position involves preparing and executing chemical production batches, following standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and consistent product quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely managing pyrophoric reagents, Raney nickel, and operating pressure reactors in line with company policies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Batch Preparation and Execution: Prepare and execute chemical production batches according to established procedures to ensure accurate and consistent product quality.
  2. Reagent Management: Safely manage pyrophoric reagents, Raney nickel, and operate pressure reactors (autoclave) in accordance with company policies.
  3. Filtration Techniques: Perform the filtration of low-melting solids and apply optimal filtration techniques.
  4. Deviation Reporting: Report any deviations from specifications and work with the senior chemist to troubleshoot and rectify issues.
  5. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including batch records, test results, and any deviations from standard procedures.
  6. Reporting and Communication: Generate reports and summaries as required by the production and quality control teams and communicate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth production process.
  7. Safety Protocols: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
  8. Equipment Operation: Operate production equipment such as reactors, mixers, and filters.
  9. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality.
  10. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and research and development.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry from a reputable university with high academic achievements.
  2. Experience: Up to 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical production sector.
  3. Soft Skills: Strong willingness to learn, adapt, and work effectively as part of a team, with excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
