Cloud Operations Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced cloud infrastructure specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in cloud operations, scripting/programming, monitoring, and cost optimization.

  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
  • Analyze daily/weekly usage patterns and billing reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain scripts/automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages for cost reporting and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to right-size compute, storage, and database resources.
  • Implement reserved instances, savings plans, auto-scaling policies, and storage lifecycle policies to reduce spend.
  • Leverage native tools like AWS Cost Explorer, CloudWatch, and GCP Billing, as well as third-party monitoring platforms.
  • Contribute to SRE/DevOps practices by balancing infrastructure reliability with costs.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with AWS and/or GCP services (EC2, S3, IAM, GKE, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Experience in cloud cost monitoring & optimization.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Bash, Shell, etc.).
  • Understanding of SRE concepts: reliability, scalability, monitoring, and automation.
  • Prior experience in cost analysis and optimization for enterprise workloads.
