Job Title: Cloud Database Administrator Lead

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to lead our cloud database efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering SQL Server databases, both on-premises and in Azure.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Plan, implement, and oversee Azure SQL Subscription services to ensure high availability and cost-efficiency.
  • Performance Tuning: Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Disaster Recovery: Configure and maintain disaster recovery, backups, and high availability solutions (Always On, Geo-Replication, etc.) to minimize downtime.
  • Security: Implement and monitor security policies, access controls, and compliance standards to protect sensitive data.
  • Migrations: Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL to take advantage of cloud scalability and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD and database lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot production issues and proactively address database health and capacity concerns to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Deep knowledge of T-SQL, backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and security configurations.
  • Proven experience with migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure.
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, and Azure Automation.
  • Understanding of licensing and cost management for Azure SQL resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
