Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Import Ocean Freight Manager to lead our import ocean freight operations.

  • Manage and oversee import shipments, ensuring timely cargo clearance and delivery across the globe.
  • Develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and build strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Lead the import operations team – allocate resources, set KPIs, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training and support.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Ocean Freight Management
  • Manage import shipments from start to finish, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (sales, documentation, customer service, and finance) to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead the import operations team, allocating resources, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training.
  • Manage and mentor team members, promoting growth and development within the organization.
  • Maintain open communication channels with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Generate regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in import operations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
