Medical Device Technician Role

The role of a Medical Device Technician involves the management of medical device turnaround processes at our facility.

This includes device disinfection, basic electronics checks, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to ensure that medical devices are functioning properly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of medical devices as per standard operating procedures.
  • Inspect devices for functional issues after patient usage and identify areas for improvement.
  • Replace components and consumable parts where necessary and conduct routine quality control checks.

Troubleshooting & Basic Repairs:

  • Diagnose electronic control unit issues and perform minor repairs to ensure continuity of service.
  • Coordinate with technical teams for advanced repairs or escalations and document all interactions.
  • Perform software updates if required to maintain optimal system performance.

Device Deployment Support:

  • Responsible for collecting and installing medical devices at hospitals/home-care centers when needed.
  • Deploy new or rental devices as per requirements and provide on-site training to end-users.
  • Develop relationships with nursing staff and caregivers to ensure effective communication and support.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of service logs, device usage hours, complaints, and interventions.
  • Prepare regular reports for operations and product teams to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in servicing medical equipment.
  • Hands-on skills in electronic device repair and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with hospital infection control practices is highly valued.

  • Technical aptitude in electronic devices and medical equipment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Willingness to travel locally for device pickups/deployments when necessary.
