Database Engineer Role Overview

The successful Database Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving the operation and optimization of enterprise data platforms, primarily focusing on Snowflake and SQL Server.

This position bridges operational support and forward-thinking engineering by maintaining the integrity of existing systems and designing scalable, cloud-native infrastructure pipelines.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and improve query performance and schema design to ensure optimal database efficiency.
  • Develop and manage data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics for seamless data integration.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning to identify areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to modernize the data platform and drive business growth through data-driven insights.
  • Ensure SLA compliance and effective incident/change management processes are in place.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and data warehouse design principles is essential.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and performance optimization techniques is necessary.
  • Familiarity with incident/change management tools like JIRA is beneficial.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related discipline is required.
  • 5-7 years of database engineering or support experience is expected.
