Job Title: Automotive Embedded Hardware Director

Job Description

The role is responsible for leading the technical delivery of automotive electronics hardware for global vehicle OEMs, including instrument clusters, in-vehicle infotainment systems, cameras, information displays, and cockpit electronics controllers.

This includes independently working on design tasks, reviewing customer specifications, and designing and developing automotive products with microprocessors, system-on-chip (SOC) devices, high-speed memory, LVDS circuitry, and high-speed designs for automotive applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing microprocessor and DSP digital cores, audio, camera, and video signals, analog and digital control logic, linear and switching power supplies, for automotive applications
  • Performing worst-case analysis and simulations to ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Supporting product design reviews
  • Creating and maintaining schematic and assembly drawings, and releasing them within the change management structure
  • Developing and maintaining electrical design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA)
  • Generating electrical information for ECAD (electronic computer-aided design) PCB layout, and supporting ECAD designers
  • Supporting hardware prototype build
  • Creating product verification plans, and performing testing
  • Supporting electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and validation testing
  • Utilizing structured problem-solving techniques for test failure resolution
  • Presenting product design, analysis, and testing to customers

Lab equipment experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, and multi-meters is essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive knowledge of automotive electronics hardware, including instrument clusters, in-vehicle infotainment systems, cameras, information displays, and cockpit electronics controllers
  • Expertise in designing and developing microprocessors, SOC devices, high-speed memory, LVDS circuitry, and high-speed designs for automotive applications
  • Strong understanding of worst-case analysis and simulation tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in ECAD tools and lab equipment
