Key purpose of the role is to oversee farm operations from land preparation to crop harvesting, ensuring timely production and quality outcomes.

The successful candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in agriculture and a proven track record of optimizing crop yields and productivity. This field-based role requires close collaboration with laborers and involves hands-on experience that contributes significantly to personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities

Operations Management:
  • Develop and implement planting, cultivation, and harvesting plans, considering factors like land use, resource allocation, and environmental impact.
  • Oversee efficient use of resources, including land, labor, machinery, and finances, to minimize waste and maximize output.
  • Ensure high-quality crops and products through adherence to standards and best practices, maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the process.
  • Implement strategies to improve crop yields and overall productivity, leveraging data analysis and market research to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient workforce, recruiting, training, and supervising employees to achieve optimal performance.
Sustainability and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain sustainable agricultural practices, prioritizing environmental stewardship and social responsibility to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • E nsure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, staying up-to-date with changes and developments to avoid non-compliance risks.
Communication and Leadership:
  • Train, motivate, and lead a team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment that encourages collaboration and open communication.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including management, suppliers, and customers, to build strong relationships and drive business success.
Specific Tasks:
  • Monitor and report on all plantation sites, utilizing digital tools to streamline data collection and analysis.
  • Oversee land clearing, preparation, and maintenance, ensuring optimal soil health and fertility.
  • Supervise planting, fertilization, pest control, gap filling, and other cultivation activities, applying expertise to optimize crop growth.
  • Manage harvesting operations and ensure proper post-harvest handling and storage, minimizing waste and preserving quality.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, scheduling regular checks and repairs to prevent breakdowns and optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of all plantation activities, using data to inform future decisions and improve operational performance.

Requirements:

  • Agriculture degree or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in agriculture, preferably in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of optimizing crop yields and productivity.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to train and motivate teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to leverage data analysis and market research to inform decision-making.
  • Familiarity with sustainable agricultural practices and industry regulations.
