Job Title: Marine Engineering Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Digital Twin models for container vessels, incorporating various data sources such as historical operations, noon reports, EEXI reports, and HF data.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to build domain-specific inputs for Digital Twin models, ensuring accurate representation of vessel performance.
  • Develop and refine Digital Twin models, including Fuel Performance Curves, Vessel Hydrodynamic Stability, and Power decomposition.
  • Model the effects of windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, wave impact, wind impact, and currents on vessel performance.
  • Build derived parameters such as Trim, Metacentric Height, Windage from various sources of base data.
  • Tackle parametric and synchronous rolling by developing tactical solutions and alert systems.
  • Share vessel digital twin models for weather re-routing and optimize vessel performance.
  • Design AI/ML solutions for recommending vessel speed, overconsumption alerts, fouling margin, and other optimization strategies.
  • Create visualizations of the Vessel Digital Twin for end-users as per project deliverables.
  • Scan and recommend process improvements, statutory guidelines, updates, and benchmarking in related areas.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 12-20 years of experience in naval architecture – ship design, vessel digital twin, fuel performance curves etc.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in conceptualizing and building Container Vessel fuel consumption curves and other ship hydrodynamic performance models.
  • Excellent understanding of Data Science subjects – Simulation, Optimization, ML models etc relevant to deliver results.
  • Strong consulting skills – leadership, problem-solving, troubleshooting, solutioning, and design thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills – spoken, written, and client-facing roles.
  • Ability to guide teams on developing analytics solution blueprints to client problems balancing business context and technical details.
  • Ability to analyze pros-and-cons of different analytic options in the context of multitude of business problems, articulate choices to technical and business audiences.
