Job Title: Distributed Database Architect

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled architect to design, maintain, and scale our distributed database infrastructure.

  • You will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, and scaling our most critical data storage and intelligence platforms.
  • Contribute to the product architecture to improve our services' performance, operability, scalability, service reliability, capacity, and observability.
  • Collaborate with other team members to manage both our production SQL-based and NoSQL databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage mission-critical high transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of both traditional SQL databases (MySQL/Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB).
  • Install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
  • Manage an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering the services, including deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
  • Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and reporting in the production environment.
  • Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB) required.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona) required.
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms.
