Operational Excellence Role Overview

About the Position:

The Operational Excellence Specialist will be responsible for spearheading a focused effort to enhance operational effectiveness and profitability across Global Manufacturing sites and processes.

This role will collaborate with Leadership Teams and Directors to develop and lead performance transformations, driving operational excellence, systems, and a continuous improvement culture.

  • Develop and implement cost reduction projects through operational efficiencies.
  • Establish an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) program to track, identify, and eliminate lost production causes.
  • Conduct diagnostics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct value stream mapping exercises to define processes; work with the site to implement or streamline/improve use of LEAN tools, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop policies and standards for manufacturing excellence.
  • Propose and support projects within businesses for identifying improvement levers, setting objectives, and carrying out manufacturing excellence programs.
  • Support the execution of improvement projects by promoting the use of proven tools and approaches to achieve manufacturing excellence.
  • Ensure focus on sustainability of improvements through training and skill building of leaders.
  • Lead and mentor leadership team members, facilitating a culture that motivates employees.
  • Recommend methods to increase product quality and/or services.
  • Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices, protecting employees and visitors by maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Work closely with other OE Managers and Directors to implement improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred; education with a scientific background is highly desired.
  • Relevant Work Experience: BS/BA in a scientific or business discipline and at least 5-8 years' experience in project/program management, operational excellence / continuous improvement, or consulting required.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
