Operations Manager Job Description

Synopsis: As an Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily functioning of a construction chemicals business. Your responsibilities include ensuring production efficiency, inventory control, and distribution channel optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage teams involved in production, quality control, and logistics.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team performance to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Foster a high-performance work environment.

Operational Oversight:

You will be responsible for optimizing production processes for cost-effectiveness and efficiency, as well as monitoring and managing the supply chain from raw material procurement to final product delivery.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure the highest standards of product quality and compliance with industry regulations and standards. This includes implementing quality control processes and overseeing testing procedures for raw materials and finished products.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage operations budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability. Identify areas for cost reduction while maintaining operational efficiency and ensure effective utilization of resources, including manpower, materials, and machinery.

Supply Chain Management:

Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors for the procurement of raw materials and chemicals, negotiate prices, contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations:

Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, implement and enforce safety protocols and guidelines in the workplace, and conduct regular safety audits and provide training to employees on safety procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in operations management, with a focus on construction chemicals or related industries.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, managing budgets, and optimizing operational processes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of construction chemicals, leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and inventory control.
  • Experience in product development and technical support within the construction chemicals sector, familiarity with ERP systems for production and inventory management, and knowledge of ISO standards and other quality certification processes.
