Job Title: Category Buying

Main Responsibilities:
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and overseeing the procurement process, including sourcing new vendors, onboarding them, scheduling, buying/ordering, ensuring timely payments, managing debits to vendors as per process, and product development.
  • They will also oversee working relationships with existing vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Identifying products, offers, and negotiating the best rates to ensure profitable growth for the categories.
  • Analysis of consumption patterns across various geographies to inform business decisions.
  • Ensuring inventory control and team management, conducting competition benchmarking, and market visits.
  • Data analysis, planning, forecasting, sales growth, product enhancement, and product lifecycle management.
  • Effective team management is essential, with a focus on preparing and presenting reports, as well as travel requirements.
Requisites:
  • A Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA degree with minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG (Sales GT background)/General Merchandising Product base industry (sales background) with a good understanding of the category.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, planning, delegation, coordination, follow-up, and team handling skills are necessary.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders requires strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and related processes is a must.
