Job Opportunity: Senior Short Term Disability Claims SpecialistWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Short Term Disability Claims Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for handling short-term disability claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle short-term disability claims from receipt to closure, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into claimant information, medical records, and other relevant documentation to determine eligibility and entitlement.
  • Analyze complex medical data and reports to make informed decisions regarding claim approvals or denials.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of claim activity, including correspondence, phone calls, and meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with claimants, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and provide updates on claim status.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of insurance principles, medical terminology, and regulatory requirements to ensure accurate and compliant decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting, operations, and customer service, to facilitate efficient claim resolution.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, changes in regulations, and new technologies to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in training and development programs to improve performance and contribute to team goals.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Health Sciences).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in short-term disability claims, insurance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex medical data and reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with claimants, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with insurance industry software and systems.
