Lead Underwriter

We are seeking a skilled Lead Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating complex underwriting data to make informed decisions.

  • Analyze and evaluate complex underwriting data to make informed decisions.
  • Develop and implement effective underwriting strategies to minimize risk and maximize profits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to junior underwriters on underwriting principles and best practices.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in a commercial insurance setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound judgments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, finance or economics.

You will also need to possess:

  • Insurance knowledge (preferably commercial UW support) and ability to understand and interpret insurance terminology.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to do root-cause analysis for process gaps highlighted.
  • Collaborative approach towards resolving issues with partners & peers/sub-process areas.
  • Ability to crunch data, possesses data driven & fact-based approach.
