Electrical Design Professional

The Electrical and Control Discipline team seeks a skilled professional to evaluate marine electrical and control designs, ensuring compliance with relevant international standards and class rules.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate design plans for new builds, conversions, or existing vessels, applying appropriate procedures, expertise, and knowledge.
  • Provide technical support to designers and operators of ships and other marine platforms, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
  • Conduct approval of electrical and control equipment and components against various statutory codes and Class Rules, maintaining high levels of quality and safety.
  • Carry out Type Approval activity for electrical and control equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, fostering trust and open communication.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to internal and external clients globally at a senior level, driving business growth and expansion.
  • Contribute to Rule Development Projects and Proposals, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Actively seek to ensure client satisfaction, generating new opportunities and delivering exceptional results.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Telecommunication Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary organization.
  • Relevant experience working with electrical and control designs, Class Rules, and the application of technical expertise to shipbuilding and offshore projects.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution, demonstrating commitment to ongoing learning and development.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, highlighting technical competence and leadership skills.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in English, written and oral, facilitating effective communication and collaboration across global teams.
