Design Lead – Solar

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Design Lead with a strong background in Civil/Structural Engineering to lead our engineering activities for Solar PV Power Plants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and executing engineering activities, managing a team of design engineers and draughtspersons, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality engineering standards.

  • Timely delivery of engineering drawings and documents.
  • Ensuring deliveries align with the project schedule.
  • Reviewing drawings created by design engineers and draughtspersons, including checking design and sizing calculations of engineering electrical equipment and obtaining client approvals.
  • Reviewing vendor deliverables pertaining to engineering.
  • Estimating and planning man-hour requirements.
  • Reviewing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and submitting it to the contracts team, providing technical clarifications as needed.
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines for inter-departmental checks.
  • Providing support and clarifications to the site execution team.
  • Inspecting equipment from finalized vendors after submission of validation documents to supply chain management.
  • Clarifying issues related to design and requirements with the site execution team.
  • Collecting inputs for project details from clients and section heads.
  • Coordinating with operations teams and informing design specifications for obtaining approval.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 8-20 years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering, with a strong background in design aspects of Solar PV Power Plants and Power Distribution Projects. Your ability to multitask, estimate, and plan man-hour requirements effectively is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

You will lead a team of design engineers and draughtspersons, managing engineering activities within budget, delivering on time, and maintaining high-quality engineering standards. Additionally, you will provide technical expertise in civil and structural engineering activities, including control room buildings, transformer foundations, outdoor equipment foundations, inverter rooms, grading, roads, and drainage, outdoor steel structures, and miscellaneous works related to solar power plants.
