Lead Oracle Database Migration Specialist

The role of the Lead Oracle Database Migration Specialist involves overseeing end-to-end migration lifecycles, defining and driving migration strategies, and ensuring seamless delivery across all phases of the program.

  • Leads the assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration optimization of database migrations.
  • Defines and drives migration strategy, methodologies, and best practices for zero/near-zero downtime and high availability/disaster recovery.
  • Plans, designs, and executes Oracle database migrations across various environments, including data center-to-data center, cloud setups, and Oracle Exadata/ExaCC environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end database backup and recovery using Rubrik for backup orchestration and RMAN for backup/restore operations, incremental (delta) syncs, and PITR (Point-in-Time Recovery).
  • Implement delta data synchronization strategies for near-zero downtime migration.
  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database performance monitoring, health checks, proactive alerting, migration tracking, and validation.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of Oracle Database experience, with 5+ years in leadership/managerial roles overseeing database migration programs.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale Oracle migrations in multi-cloud, Exadata, and ExaCC environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Exadata administration, migration, and performance tuning, as well as Oracle Exadata (ExaCC) implementation and management.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of GoldenGate for real-time replication.
  • Familiarity with Terraform/Ansible for Infrastructure as Code-based DB provisioning.
