Job Summary

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a challenging position in our IT department.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hosting products and services. This includes participating in 24x7 shifts, monitoring product stability, and providing L1/L2 support.

You will also be responsible for handling incident response, troubleshooting, and fixing issues with various products and services. Additionally, you will need to handle escalations according to established policies and procedures.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as you will need to work closely with internal and external teams to resolve production site issues effectively. You should be able to communicate clearly on tickets and phone calls, and exhibit a sense of urgency when resolving issues.

Automation is a key part of this role, and you will need to build advanced automation workflows to automate repeated issues. You will also work with our infrastructure team to deploy and maintain Linux/Windows servers using automated scripts and a predefined runbook.

Achieving Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Standards is critical to this role. You will need to raise tickets to different internal groups to resolve recurrent problems and follow up on escalated issues. In addition, you will need to liaise with engineering teams to identify root causes of issues affecting production sites.

Knowledge management is also important in this role, and you will contribute to Operations handbooks. Finally, you will ensure smooth hand-offs between shifts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of Linux systems, including any shell/bash, sed/awk/grep/egrep, VI/VIM/Emacs, netstat, lsof, strace, ps/top/atop/dstat, grub boot config & systems rescue, fstab/disk labels, ext3/ext4, IPtables, sysstat (sar/vmstat/iostat etc), run-levels & startup scripts, sudo/chroot/chkrootkit/rkhunter.
  • Windows: Windows 2000/2003/2008, NTFS chkdisk/acls etc, Troubleshoot system/application faults using Event logs, Updates via WSUS, Terminal Services, IIS Fundamentals.
  • Basic DNS & Networking, TCP/UDP, IP Routing, HA & Load Balancing Concepts.
  • Application Protocols: SMTP,HTTP,FTP,IMAP,POP.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, preferably with consistently strong academic performance.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
