About this position:

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, monitor, and tune production databases
  • Manage high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud environments
  • Administer database instances on cloud platforms
  • Monitor database performance using performance monitoring tools
  • Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries
  • Implement best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management
  • Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies
  • Support initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection
  • Provide guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments
  • Share knowledge, mentor junior team members, and improve documentation and internal tooling

Required skills & qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, including at least 5+ years with SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud database services: RDS, Aurora, and IAM integration
  • Solid understanding of SQL query optimization, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries
  • Proven track record of managing production-grade environments with strict uptime SLAs
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools like Terraform or Ansible
