Senior Insurance Leadership Role

The Head of Marine Insurance and Claims Department is responsible for overseeing the overall marine insurance and claims functions within the organization.

This position requires a strategic thinker who can lead a team, manage risks, and ensure compliance with international regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of marine insurance policies, claim processes, and marine insurance rules and regulations.

  • Leadership Position: Serve as the leader of the Marine Insurance and Claims (MI&C) Department, act as the authorized point of contact and escalation for all marine insurance and claims related matters within the organization and with external entities.
  • Risk Management & Policy Development: Lead all insurance policy planning and risk mitigation initiatives, review and approve insurance renewals, endorsements, and premium structures.
  • Claims Resolution & Settlement: Oversee the complete life cycle of insurance claims, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with insurer protocols, manage complex or high-value claims, and ensure accurate registration in CIMS.
  • Team Performance Management: Act as direct supervisor and mentor for MI&C team members, assign duties to IOs, SCEs, and IEs based on claim or policy complexity, conduct regular reviews of claim closures, ERP entries, and broker interactions.
  • Culture of Excellence: Promote a culture of continuous learning and procedural excellence within the MI&C team, facilitate regular training on policy requirements, claim handling, and compliance updates, maintain an up-to-date digital repository of policies, procedures, claim trackers, and audit documents.

The selected candidate will be expected to work closely with various departments, including Senior Management, Legal, and Emergency Response Teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Required Qualifications: Master's in law, Risk Management, or Insurance law, minimum 10-15 years in marine insurance/claims handling, strong understanding of marine insurance policies, claim processes, and marine insurance rules and regulations, leadership qualities, problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
